Zech 8:21–23

8:21
The inhabitants of one will go to another and say, “Let’s go up at once to
ask the favour of the Lord, to seek the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Indeed,
I’ll go with you.”’

Many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord
of Heaven’s Armies and to ask his favour.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, ‘In those days 10 people from all
languages and nations will grasp hold of—indeed, grab—the robe of one Jew
and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’

 

One thought:

A people across human history have desired the favour of God. God’s people have it and others will be drawn to it.

 

Three questions:

 

What in these verses would have been staggering to Zechariah’s first audience?

Do you rejoice that you have God’s favour?

How could you show others the richness of being God’s people more?

 

Prayer:

Praise God that He shows favour to rebels and lawbreakers. Give thanks that in Jesus all those who trust in Him have received the abundant favour of God. Ask God to help you + someone else show others the beauty of knowing Jesus.
